- The coconut shy game started in England in the late 19th century. Generally, one would buy three balls to throw at a row of coconuts that were balanced on these posts. Players would attempt to knock the coconuts off the post. The winner would get to keep the coconut which was considered a rather prized exotic fruit in 19th century England. ↩
