Description

Architectural form box veneered in alternating light and dark porcupine quill. The pyramidal lid with radiating segments of bone and black buffalo horn, surmounted by a tiered square finial of etched bone and hardwood. Black buffalo horn stringing to edges. Bone borders with black penwork decoration of foliate sprays. Interior of polished hardwood with silk-lined base and etched decoration to lid underside. Raised on black buffalo horn bun feet. Working lock and key. Anglo-Indian circa 1850.
