Description

An exceptional early English marquetry specimen wood box with tumbling block inlay on the top and specimen wood Van Dyke triangles on all sides. Early 19th Century. The removable, lift-out tray is lined with dark velvet concealing a second storage below. Working lock and key. Boxes such as these were showcases for exotic woods of the English colonies. French polished.
