A vivid & detailed, hand-painted papier mâché tray with a pastoral scene of a hunting party. The scene includes women with rifles as well as men, flying fowl, hunting dogs, and other fauna. During 18th and 19th centuries grand picnics and “Hunt Balls” were often organized as a way of bringing a societal aspect to the otherwise male-dominated sport of hunting; French, circa 1840
