Description
A round powder box of panelled mother-of-pearl with canted sides and silver-plated rims. The hinged lid and base are each set with a single, circular disc of iridescent nacre. The vertical body is constructed from alternating upright mother-of-pearl segments set within a metal collar and base band. The interior is smoothly finished with an unlined nacre surface. The lid lifts cleanly and rests securely. Likely intended for use on a dressing table or vanity in the late Victorian period.
