Serpentine Colonial Coromandel Box with Tea Canisters, Anglo-Indian circa 1850

A serpentine-lidded coromandel box with a moulded top and continuous undulating sides. The exterior displays characteristic grain patterning associated with coromandel wood, with a warm surface tone and dark linear figuring. The interior is arranged with three lidded tea canisters, each with raised panelled lids and small metal ring pulls, set above a deeper compartment. The interior lid is plain with framed edges. Hinges, escutcheon, with working lock and key; on a subtly shaped base following the contour of the sides. Anglo-Indian circa 1850
